Here is a wonderfully versatile crochet shawl pattern. Based on a simple combination of double crochets and chain-1 spaces worked using a big crochet hook, it can be made using most any kind of yarn. Here, it is shown in a whisper soft kid mohair yarn in two shades of lilac for a truly elegant result. The kid mohair is so light and airy, the shawl can be worn as a very pretty neck warmer, as well as a delicate shawl.
This pattern would be equally stunning in a fancy ribbon yarn or a hand-painted wool or silk blend yarn. The possibilities are endless. It also works up quickly on the big size hook. A great crochet pattern for beginners looking to make something stunning!

I made this shawl for a trip to Alaska recently and finished it on the way. It was quick simple and just the right size. I used a bulky wool blend so it was very soft and warm to wear while sitting out on the balcony of our cruise ship. I did not add the fringe but added a border by simply continuing the pattern as instructed in the body of the shawl.
