The New Cardigan is Finished!

lace cotton cardigan knitting pattern

Here is the latest project off of SweaterBabe’s needles - a romantic and pretty shaped cardigan.  It’s knit from the top-down, has 3/4 length sleeves that are slightly flared, and features a beautifully flared shape.  The waist is cinched with a wide ribbon and mock-cable belt loops that match the mock-cables in the flared bottom.

Knit in Blue Sky Alpaca’s dyed cotton.  It’s a wonderfully soft and very vibrantly colored yarn.

Look for this pattern coming very soon!  I’ll be busy writing it up right away.

Here’s the gorgeous detailing of the back:

New Knitting and Crochet Patterns Coming Soon!

February 27th, 2008 at 12:28pm Under Knitting and Crochet News+ Updates+ New Knitting Patterns+ New Crochet Patterns

Here are two new projects that will be written up soon for the website.

The first is this lovely, easy to wear long, shaped cardigan. It’s done from the top down (yea!), so there is only a little sleeve seaming.  The sleeves are wide, the waist is shaped with a flattering ribbed waistline, and there are two really fun gathered patch pockets in front.  A pretty vine lace panel is worked in the front and the collar is shaped and generous.

Here’s the great-looking back view:

Then, there is my new purse!  It’s crocheted in a soft cotton/microfiber blend.  LOVE the colors (matches our living room, actually!).

The front and back pieces are crocheted from the center out.  The two pieces are then crocheted together and the strap pieces are crocheted.  Notice the knotted crochet accents that gather the leather straps at the base of each silver ring.  Pretty cool, huh?

The pretty texture of this stitch inspired the whole design!

And here is a view of the great lining fabric I found!  I just loved the graphic floral print!

Long Lace Cardigan Knitting Pattern

This long-awaited pattern is now ready for purchase!  I’ve been wearing it a lot and get so many compliments.  People think it is a fabulous high-end designer sweater, but no — it’s an easy to knit cozy sweater that is so easy to pair with jeans or other outfits.

Two New Knitting Patterns Just Released

October 24th, 2007 at 11:55am Under Knitting and Crochet News+ Updates+ New Knitting Patterns

Here are the 2 NEW patterns that I’ve just added for sale at: http://www.sweaterbabe.com/knittingpatterns.htm.

Based on the same design, but one for babies/kids (sized 6-12 months through 10 years) and for women.  Aren’t they pretty?  My little 2-year old was quite happy to model the girl’s version, although she wanted big sis to be in the photos too.  They are both on bulky yarn, so they are quick knits with lots of stylish details. Enjoy!

Long Cabled Vest now with the Fabulous Belt!

Long Belted Cabled Vest Knitting Pattern

Now - it’s officially a finished knit object.  Next, it’s in the queue to be written up as a pattern.  I’m writing patterns as fast as I can!

I just love the belt.  I made it optional, in case the vest is to be worn open.  But I think it looks so great with the thick knit belt.  Found some great “buckles” that are really 2 round rings that look like bone, but are probably just plastic.  Went better with the buttons than I imagined!

Another new knitting pattern in the works!

October 17th, 2007 at 09:10am Under Knitting and Crochet News+ Updates+ New Knitting Patterns

Here’s another new knitting pattern fresh off my needles! It’s an intricately cabled long vest (or sleeveless cardigan).

It’s in an extra long, flattering length with pockets and gorgeous cable detailing.  The collar can be worn open, or buttoned up like a turtleneck.  There will be a belt… I’m about to go hunting for a pretty belt buckle.

The yarn is Duchess from Classic Elite.  A nice, bulky cashmere blend yarn.

Back to the pattern writing!  The top-down cardigans are in the queue first and should be ready in days!

My Latest Knitting Project - A LUSH and Lacy Cardigan!

July 29th, 2007 at 06:34pm Under Updates+ New Knitting Patterns

I just finished my latest knitting project, a cute cardigan knit in Classic Elite Lush yarn.  It’s amazing what you can get done when your web access is down for a week (ahem!).

If you have ever used Lush yarn, you know how soft and luxurious it really is.  It’s a great camel/chocolate brown color too.

This cardigan has LOTS of cool details, like the slightly belled, elbow-length sleeves, the lace panels that emerge from the great front pockets, and a little fit and flare back waist accent (wait until you see the picture of this!).

I finally visited my favorite button store, aptly named The Button Store, to pick buttons for this cardigan. It’s here in Los Angeles on 3rd street and has the most amazing buttons.  The lady that works there is very lovely and I always end up with her first suggestion.  The ones I chose for this cardigan are gorgeous glass antique buttons.  They really add to the cardigan, don’t you think??  The Button Store will be reproducing these buttons so they will be available for all very soon.

Look for this pattern to be published soon on SweaterBabe.com.  I’ll try to get this one out fast!  (The sales manager at BCBG loved it when I wore it our last night.)

OK - here’s a photo of the back with the ruffled peplum!  I’ve been wanting to make a sweater with this detailing for so long!
